Paul is referencing Mal 1:2,3 for which there are additional notes on what the emotions of love and hate mean in reference to our Lord.<p>The Lord loved the spiritual nature of Jacob.<p>The Lord hated the carnality of Esau.<p>The OldTestament perspective on the Lord was not the Truth.<p>Jesus is the Truth!<p>When we hear that it is not the Lord`s will that any perish, we understand that the statement about Esau was based on perception and not Truth.<p>Esau was a CarnalMinded individual. We know that the CarnalMind is enmity with the Lord.<p>The Lord loved Esau but hated his CarnalMind.<p>The fact that Esau sold his birthright meant that Esau was not concerned with the Lord`s plan. He was only concerned about his physical needs.
