Christ is the bridegroom. Jesus was taken to the cross. He later arose and ascended back to heaven. I suspect those awaiting the promise of the HolySpirit were fasting during the ten days after His ascension and the Day of pentecost. <p> I believe that fasting is unnecessary for those filled with the HolySpirit because He is the bridegroom.
