Not so many want to be in intimate personal relationship with Him. This is why some denominations resist the HolySpirit, teaching their people that the intimacy and commitment that Jesus spoke of in this passage was only for the people of His day.
It is a hard saying that we are to be One with Christ. But only those who commit to Him are His disciples indeed. It is only through the commitment of ourselves to the degree that Jesus committed Himself to us that we are bound with Him spiritually.
