Miracles engender faith.  They are signs to unbelievers.<p>In this case, Jesus has come against pharisaical conventions to demonstrate His authority to define true righteousness.<p>It is not just the miracle but the demonstration of authority that causes the disciples to believe on Him.<p>It is His revolutionary words and actions that cause the establishment to hate Him and plot against Him.
