^In vain^ is without the intended result. What is the intended result of using the NameOfTheLord? It is salvation bringing us into intimate personal relationship with Him.

What is the Lord^s name? It is Jesus.

So, every Jew since Jesus came to this earth who has rejected Jesus as God but has named the name of Jesus has taken His name in vain.

Lest we be too hard on the Jews, there are those in Christianity who do not believe that Jesus is the name of God and so use the name of Jesus in vain.

The reason this command was given, is so that each of us would desire and seek to find the name of the Lord so that we did not miss out on His blessings. It was not because the Lord could be offended by our casual use of His name.

By Faith InChrist Jesus we are ^held guiltless^ Rom 8:1. Those who deny Jesus as MightyGod and Saviour take His name in vain whenever they use the name of Jesus. Such are ^not held guiltless^ Heb 10:29.
