Those who truly understand that Jesus Is God will not be offended by the title of this article - Deprecating God.
Those who don't, will be.
First of all, deprecation is the act of decomissioning one thing in favor of something that is better.
When you know about a person's profession or expertise but you don't know their name you use terms like:
➛ the doctor
➛ the golfer
➛ the guitar player
In so doing you are identifying the fact that you don't know the person well, specifically, their name.
I think we can all agree that the following is a better way to identify or address a specific person:
➛ Doctor Welby
➛ Tiger Woods
➛ Tommy Emmanuel
Because the word, God, simply identifies an unknown Supreme Being it is in the same category as 'the guitar player'. It just identifies an expertise, function or role.
I know some people think that 'God' identifies their specific God but that is a very narrow view and it opens them up to confusion as 'God' is just a generic term for deity.
For instance, to the Jew, YHWH is God while to the Muslim, Allah is God, while to the Satanist, Lucifer is God.
This confusion about 'God' is the reason that I support Deprecating God in favor of exactly who you are talking about.
The Jew should just say YHVH or Adonai.
The Muslim should just say Allah.
The Christian should just say Jesus.
Why wouldn't a believer in a given religion use the specific name for their God?
I suppose the term God is used by those in different religions for the purpose of nullifying the specific God of their religion in favor of a common God across all religions.
In the case of Christianity such a purpose would be deception as Jesus is a specific person who walked the earth, who said I Am the Way Truth And Life, Come Unto Me and All Power Is Mine. His Holy Spirit spoke through His apostles identifying Jesus as The Only Name, as King Of Kings, as Lord Of Lords and other similar statements that exclude the possibility that there are other gods than Jesus specifically.
Quite literally the term God should be reserved as a description of Jesus.
Jesus Is God identifies God once and for all by naming Him.
Once God's name is discovered He should be addressed using His name in order to gain audience with Him.
➛ In My Name is how He instructed His disciples to pray, to speak and to work.
➛ In Jesus` Name is how we address the Holy Spirit Of Christ Jesus in us.
