When you are driving (alone with no GPS) and you come to a fork in the road, you can choose which fork to take.
(I have never seen a fork in the road where either fork leads you to the same destination).
Who is responsible for where you end up? You are.
Oh, you can blame the person who designed the roads if you like but
➛ what if there were no roads?
➛ what if you had no vehicle?
➛ what if there was no you?
The issue of existence is addressed in Why I Am Here. But the fact is, you are here, and you are on a road that you must travel.
This fork that you come to is there.
You can't redesign the road.
You can't turn back.
You must keep moving.
So, you must choose which way you will go.
In every sense of the analogy life is a road with a fork. You don't choose to be alive. You have no control of your movement through time. You must choose when you come to the fork which way you will go.
These are some basic rules of the process which God instituted in Creation. You are not God, so there is no point in arguing the purpose, the rules or the destinations.
Have you ever come to fork in the road that was unmarked - no signs? In such a situation you are uninformed, your choice is arbitrary and you have no responsibility for where you end up.
With respect to your existence, there are two sign posts that you are born with so that when you come to the fork, you are somewhat informed of the choice to make.
➛ Creation is evidence of a Creator
➛ You are born with The Measure Of Faith
So, when you are presented with the option to believe in God or not, you are predisposed to believe in Him. It actually takes an intentional, willful act to deny the external evidence of creation by a Creator and to suppress The Measure Of Faith in your soul.
Those who do so have come to the fork and have chosen a direction which has an inevitable destination.
Will such encounter another fork one of which directions can get them back on the preferred road? I can't say. But I can say that trusting that such a correction can occur is foolhardy as you have never been on this road before.
Now, just believing the physical evidence of a Creator and responding positively to The Measure Of Faith that is born in you is not sufficient to guarantee you will end up in the best of all possible destinations.
Those who have chosen the right road at the initial fork will encounter another fork. At this fork there are a lot of signs with a lot of information.
These signs reveal the Truth about creation, the Creator, why He created, why you are here and what His plan is for you. These signs point you to the Truth about God - the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those who take the road to Christ Jesus end up at a destination they could not have imagined or hoped for.
Those who take the other road (because they do not believe the signs) end up in a merge situation with the road from the original fork such that they find themselves headed in the same direction as the atheists who deny God.
OK. So the destinations are heaven and hell.
The signs are the first fork were put there by God.
The signs at the second fork are put there by those who hold and speak the Testimony Of Jesus Christ.
The decision as to what to believe is yours.
Choose wisely, my friend.
Come unto me, all you that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. |
