So we see the threat hanging over those who have rejected the blood sacrifice of the Creator God on their behalf.
But when has a person finally and irrevocably rejected Christ?
Every human being is born with a sense that there is a Supreme Being.
On what basis does a person decide to reject the notion of God? Rebellion . Every other explanation they offer is just cover for the fact that they hate God and wish that He did not exist. Such are children of Satan - the first rebel.
This is why repentance is needed to come to God in Christ Jesus. One must see themselves as a rebel in opposition to the very One who created them and loved them enough to die for their reconciliation to Himself.
Those who persist in their rebellion against God spiral down eventually getting to the point where they are unreachable by the Truth.
Such end up with Reprobate Minds because they knowingly and willfully reject the Truth, Jesus Christ.
There are two major results of this: → they do things which are self-destructive → the Holy Spirit ceases to draw them.
This verse tells us that the Lord can 'give them over' to a Reprobate Mind. This state is described by the following verses.
What an individual does with these revelations determines whether the Holy Spirit can work with them to receive the message of the Gospel of Christ when they hear it.
So, the Holy Spirit draws us when we draw to Him. Jam 4:8. When we hunger and thirst for the Lord we are filled. Mat 5:6.
The ball is in our court as our Lord has done everything He can do for us to be saved.
The state of a Reprobate Mind is a terrible living death. While the person is still alive with their mental faculties, they will never have a desire to know the Truth.
We know from the parable of the sower and the seed Luk 8:5-15 that ultimately the power of the seed to manifest as designed is totally dependent on the ground in which it is planted.
Those who reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ have attested to the fact that they are not Good Ground.
When we look at the parable from an overview we understand that the sower simply casts the seed. He does not make the determination of what is Good Ground and what is not.
However, the sower will observe what happens to the seed and be informed as to the quality of the ground from the growth and harvest.
