Title: That which is the focus of faith

Everyone believes something.
Everyone has faith.

The issue is the object of one's faith.
What or who is it that you believe?

There are only two basic objects of faith
    God
    man

To believe in God is to trust in God.
To believe in man is to trust in man

Looking at the rationale for trusting God, to His credit:
    He created all things
He gives life without being asked
He desires to fellowship with us
    He is love and Truth

Looking at the rationale for trusting man, to his discredit
    he is selfish
    he is violent
    he is immoral
he is a user and abuser
    he lies

So, it looks like there is no contest.   But amazingly, there is a contest.

Why?   Self Will and pride.

There is something about man that makes him value independence more than success.   Many times you will see people make decisions that they have been warned against simply because they want to do it their way.

It seems the priority order for making decisions is:
    my thoughts
    my friends thoughts
    what the majority does
    what brings instant gratification
    what God says

There were two builders
    one built on the sand
    one built on the rock

The house built on the sand did not withstand the wind and waves but fell.
The house built on the rock stood through the wind and the waves.

So it is with our Faith Object choice.   It determines our success or failure not only in this life, but the life to come.

Choose wisely, my friend.
The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The thief is Satan who is the inspiration for all the evil in the world.
Whereas the `I` is Jesus who offers us Eternal Life and Abundant Life.

This verse is a powerful statement contrasting the nature of the enemy with the nature of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Note that the enemy takes by force what is ours, while we must appropriate by faith what is ours in Christ Jesus.
The appropriation is not a `one and done` thing.     Rather, it is an ongoing process throughout our lives on this earth.

Jesus has given us His life in giving us His Holy Spirit who is in every believer who has asked to be filled.     We aught to invoke His life into every aspect of our walk in the earth.
