We are to use wisdom when giving.
Otherwise we end up like the church at Jerusalem that was starving to death.
Resistance to giving and offering help is what Jesus was dealing with.
First and foremost, we should be edifiers - people who help other people to be able to thrive.
Feeding a poor person only keeps them alive a little longer.
Unless you help the poor person to get to the point he can thrive, he will be a permanent drain on you.
Jesus came to set people free and give abundant life so they could thrive. He fed people only as necessity dictated and only 1 meal.
