Title: To commune with the Holy Spirit

For prayer to be continuous it must be natural.   It must flow from the awareness of the Holy Spirit in me and me in Him.   There comes a point where the knowledge of oneness enables the imagination of the thoughts of my heart to rest in Him.   I converse with Him in a flow of intimacy beyond any with my closest friend or spouse.   Prayer ceases to be an appointment and becomes my existence.
Prayer does not move the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit has already moved.   He came to earth as a human.   His name is Jesus.   He has forgiven all sin for all time.   He has healed us of all our diseases.   He has provided all things for life and godliness.   He has made us His sons through the New Birth.   He has given us Himself through Spirit Baptism.   He has enabled us to do all things by His power.

So why pray?
To talk to Him and enhance our relationship with Him.
    To thank and praise Him.
To speak His words over the issues of life.
To listen to His Him for guidance.
To prepare to be an overcomer by receiving spiritual understanding from Him.
To release His Grace in your life.

We should come boldly before His throne of Grace in faith in that which He has already provided in Christ Jesus!

Prayer is to fellowship with the Lord.   Praise, thanksgiving and meditation should be the major part of prayer.
Prayer is to prepare
Prayer is to receive
Prayer is not a substitute for action.

Your knees are a starting point to prepare you for the battle.   Once you are prepared you should storm the gates of hell.   Jesus said they will not be able to withstand our assault.   We storm the gates of hell with our testimony of Jesus Christ.
And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Once we have prayed we should speak and act.    Prayer alone will not change someone else.    It takes the Truth.   Jesus said you will know the Truth and it will make you free.   Our lives are changed by relationship with Jesus.   We cannot pray a relationship with Christ on someone else.   We must witness to them of His love and Grace.   As James said, add works to your faith.
Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone.

  • On the subject of Prayer:
But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

Be not you therefore like unto them: for your Father knows what things you have need of, before you ask him.

Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.

If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you.

And whatsoever you shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Holy Spirit Father may be glorified in the Son.

If you shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts.

And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed.     The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

    Pray without ceasing.

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of our Mighty God, even Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue:

Likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of the Lord.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love the Lord, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.

What is it then?     I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

    Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
