Title: Our Word based relationship with the Lord is our proof of salvation

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of the Holy Spirit; that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may believe on the name of the Son of the Holy Spirit.
We are to know that we have Eternal Life.     The Holy Spirit is Eternal Life.     When we receive the Holy Spirit, we know it.

Those who reject the gift of the Holy Spirit, reject Eternal Life for they are One and the Same.

He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of the Lord abides on him.
When a person believes on the Lord Jesus Christ the Holy Spirit, who is Everlasting Life , enters them.

Those who never receive Christ Jesus as Saviour and Lord never receive the Holy Spirit, who is Everlasting Life

Such people will exist in opposition to the Truth experiencing fear, guilt, sickness, heartache and corruption with no access to the Saviour, the Healer, the Deliverer.     Wilful disconnection from the Lord is self-imposed wrath

All men fall into one of two categories:
    1) saved
    2) Lost

Those who are saved have received Christ.

To receive Christ is to receive the Spirit Of Christ, His Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is Everlasting Life

Those who have not received Christ are lost.

The Lost can be further broken down as
those who have never heard the Gospel,
those who have heard the Gospel and rejected it.

It is the job of every Christian to make sure that the people in their life have heard the Gospel.

A big part of the Gospel is that every person will stand before the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those who have received Christ will enter into the joy of the Lord.
Those who have rejected Christ will be cast into the Lake Of Fire.

And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved, and your house.
We connect The Measure Of Faith that the Lord gave us at birth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and we are born of His Holy Spirit and so become Sons Of The Holy Spirit.

Note that this verse does not tell us to believe on the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.     It tells us to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ who is:
    the Father
    the Son
    the Holy Spirit

This is what Chrisitanity is all about - recognizing God in Christ Jesus so that we no longer flounder around in speculation and confusion.
Jesus is the Way to God.
Jesus is the Truth about God.
Jesus is the Life of God.
    Jesus is God.

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Jesus is life and He has the keys of death and hell in His hands.

There is therefore no reason for a disciple to fear anything.

Truly, truly, I say unto you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Who `sent` Jesus?
His Holy Spirit who impregnated Mary.

So, we are to believe on Him who sent Jesus?     What does that mean?     It means that we are to believe that the Holy Spirit Father is manifested In Christ Jesus so that
    the Words Jesus spoke
    the Works Jesus did
are the Words and Works of His Holy Spirit Father.

Accordingly, what we believe about Christ Jesus is that He is the express image of God, the Holy Spirit Father making Him His own Father.     Father = Son = Holy Spirit = God who is Spirit Soul And Body in Christ Jesus.

Hearing, believing, receiving and doing the Word of the Lord is the expectation of the Lord for each of us.
When we do so we enter into everlasting life.
We are forever delivered from condemnation.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
This is an awesome statement of the love and the will of our Lord for every human being!

This is the Gospel Truth.

Have you seen the Son?
We see Christ Jesus through eyes of faith in His Word and His Holy Spirit in us.

Note that the Holy Spirit is Everlasting Life.

Also, note that it is by faith in Jesus Christ that His Holy Spirit comes into us and us into Him, making us One with Him (not 'them' as the Holy Spirit Father is the Spirit Of Christ Jesus).

For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of the Holy Spirit:
We are saved because the Holy Spirit willed it and made it possible and legal through the shed blood of Jesus Christ Salvation is totally an act of His unmerited favor - Grace.     Our part is to have faith in His Word - the Written Word and the Incarnate Word

We have all been given The Measure Of Faith It is that gift of faith than enables us to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ through whom we receive Grace

Once we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Faith Of Christ which is a fruit of His Holy Spirit provides all the benefits of Grace

The Faith Of Christ is the foundation of Grace We are not supposed to trust in our faith but, rather, trust in the Faith Of Christ - the faith that is the fruit of the Holy Spirit

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his kindness he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Spirit;
Now we are washed by His blood and Born Again of His Holy Spirit.

But to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
faith is counted for righteousness.     Hence, it is necessary and sufficient to have faith in Christ Jesus to be forgiven, Born Again, filled with His Holy Spirit, receive Eternal Life and experience Abundant Life.

That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that His Holy Spirit has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.
This is the encapsulation of Grace, clearly pointing out our part which is faith in Jesus and confession of Him as risen Lord and Saviour.

The implication of our part being to believe on Jesus Christ and confess Him as risen Lord, is that He has done everything else!
It is why we call it amazing Grace!
It is why the gospel is nearly too good to be true!

Who raised Jesus from the dead?
He raised Himself by His Holy Spirit

For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
It is Heart Faith that enables the miracle of the New Birth.

It is our personal confession of Jesus as Mighty God, Creator and loving Saviour that seals that miracle.

For whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved.
What is the `name of the Lord`?     Jesus.

What does it mean to `call upon the name of the Lord`?     It means to come to the Creator calling Him by His name, Jesus, to plea for salvation.

God is just the generic name for deity.
Calling upon God will not save anyone.

Jesus is the express image of the only true and living God.     It is only in the name, Jesus, that anyone is saved.
Jesus is the name of His Holy Spirit Father.

Understanding this gives real meaning to this important verse which declares the power of salvation in the name of Jesus.

When a person acknowledges that Jesus is Lord by calling on His name, His Holy Spirit performs the work of salvation in the heart of the caller.
