Title: Universal truth revealed in a specific instance

General Truth is always consistent with the Tri Fold Truth.

The book of Proverbs contains single lines and couplets in an attempt to communicate General Truth.   I say 'attempt' because it was written under the Old Covenant which has been superceded by the New Covenant defined by the New Testament.

General Truth is often revealed when a specific instance is dealt with in scripture.

Because the Lord operates on principle it is important that we read passages about specific instances and look for the General Truth.

Much of the value of the Old Testament to Christians is just that.

But as we gather wisdom from the Old Testament it is important that we filter it with the New Testament by the Holy Spirit Of Truth.

An example of error when taking an Old Testament specific and turning it into General Truth is in the following:
Cast me not away from your presence; and take not your holy spirit from me.
He has promised never to leave us.

In this passage the implication is that God may decide to cast us away because of our failure.   We know based on the following that that will not happen under Grace.
And I will pray the Holy Spirit Father, and he shall give you a different Comforter, that He Himself may abide in you for ever;
Jesus did not have to literally `pray the Father` as His Holy Spirit is the One who expressed Himself In Christ Jesus.     The purpose for Jesus coming was so that we could receive His Holy Spirit in us.

Jesus had to perfectly fulfil the Word and will of the Holy Spirit in order for His purpose to be accomplished.     When Jesus spoke these words He had not yet died for our sins, so He was speaking of a possibility that was still conditional - He had to die for our sins.

Once He died, His purpose was achieved, fulfilling the requirement for us to receive His Holy Spirit.

Our Creator is a Spirit.     He is the Holy Spirit.     Jesus came to redeem us so that we can be born of His Spirit and be filled with His Spirit.     In other words, Jesus came that we may receive the Father into us and that we may be in the Father

For there to be a different, or another, Comforter implies that there was one previously.     Jesus was the first Comforter.     His Holy Spirit is the new Comforter.     He is a better Comforter because He can be in each of us by virtue of His omnipresence.     Christ Jesus, the image of the Holy Spirit, can only be in one place at one time.

We have Eternal Life in the Holy Spirit.     We experience Abundant Life in this physical life as we are transformed by the Holy Spirit and the Word to the Mind Of Christ.

If you are not in perfect peace, if you have any fear, you need the comforter - the Holy Spirit.     Ask the Father for His Holy Spirit and He will give Himself to you.

Rightly dividing the Word is critical to avoid error.   The only way the Word can be rightly divided is with the guidance and revelation knowledge of the Holy Spirit Of Truth.
