Title: Stuck at the altar

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward the Lord,
We repent once.     We believe once.     And if we do it right, it is sufficient.

How do we do it `right` so that we never have to do it again?     See for the answer.

Once we have been Born Again and Spirit Filled we should then go on to spiritual maturity by exercising the provisions of Grace Through Faith.

Preoccupation with sin is a sign of spiritual immaturity.     Constantly repenting from sin is like a child being potty-trained who keeps having `accidents` and crying about it to their mom.     When the child determines they are going to get control they move into stability.

So it is with us regarding sin.     We decide that we will no longer allow sin to reign in our mortal bodies.

When we take authority over sin we are freed to pursue the greater things of the Lord .      We are expected to do greater things than Christ did .
That will never happen until we move on from sin and condemnation to faith and works.

Jesus said "come unto Me".
    to be set free
    to receive peace
    to be taught
to be filled with His Holy Spirit
    to be commissioned
    to be a disciple
    to be a Son

As long as ministers treat their congregations as weak, incompetent believers that is all they will ever be.

This treatment will lead them to stay on the bottle, to stay in mommy's lap, to be fearful of the outdoors and to be dependent on someone else all of which is antithetical to Christianity.

Why is it that so much of what Jesus said to empower us is simply shelved as we focus our attention and energy on picking the knits out of each others behavior?

Satan.

But enough about him.

What about Jesus' expectation for us?   Let's focus on that.   This is what Paul was talking about in the verse above .

Did you ever see a toddler that just pointed or grunted to get what they wanted?   There was nothing preventing them to learn how to talk except the parents that did not require it, did not teach it.

Jesus never made discipleship an easy thing.   He never deceived men into following Him.   He never shielded them from the attacks He had to endure nor the fact that they too would have to endure them.

Jesus never indicated that His disciples could not do exactly what He did.   Quite the contrary, He berated them when they failed to demonstrate what He had shown them to do.

Yes, it is easier to focus on the corruptible Soul of a believer than it is to focus on their incorruptible Spirit.

Just like the mother bird teaches her young to open its mouth to receive food and to preen its own feathers so most ministers treat the believers under them.

But the mother bird also teaches her young to extend their feathers and to flap them.   For what purpose?   She will eventually push them out of the nest so they can cease being chicks and begin their real life as birds.

We have allowed believers to remain believers instead of manifesting as Sons Of God in the image of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Who told us to do this?   Certainly not Christ.
Go you therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the One who begets, even the One begotten, who is the Holy Spirit Father
In the preceding verse Jesus categorically states that He is God by assuming all power in the universe.     In this verse He identifies the eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent Creator God who is Spirit by His name, Jesus.
    Jesus is Lord.
Jesus is the Express Image of the Holy Spirit Father
Jesus is the One and Only True And Living God.

We are to teach all nations.     What do we teach?
The Gospel of Jesus Christ - the Gospel of the Truth about God.

What is the key component of the Gospel?     That Jesus is the Truth about our Creator.

What is the Truth?     That Jesus is the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Note that name is singular - there is only one name and that is Jesus.

But how can Jesus be the Father and the Son?     To understand this we must know who the Father is.     He is the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said `I and my Father are One`.     This means that the Holy Spirit Father is the Spirit Of Christ Jesus.     Jesus spoke through the prophets about Himself by His Holy Spirit.     He then became the person He prophesied about - Jesus.

Jesus fathered Himself by His Holy Spirit, just as He raised Himself from the dead by His Holy Spirit.

So, rather than talking about some confusing trinitarian circular logic involving a three-in-one godhead, we aught to recognize
that Jesus is the Name Of The Father,
that Jesus is the Name Of The Son and
that Jesus is the Name Of The Holy Spirit.

The name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is Jesus.

Jesus instructed us to use His name when speaking to His Holy Spirit Father in us.     He said `ask the Father in my name`.     Referring to a person by name adds precision and honor to the address.

Our Creator is Spirit Soul And Body just as we are who were created in His image.

Jesus is Lord!
Be Baptized In The Name Of Jesus Christ

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.     Amen.
Notice that Jesus said we are to teach what He has said - not what the Father or Holy Spirit says.     Why?
Because He, Jesus, is the voice, the image of the Holy Spirit Father, the Incarnate Word.

So we see that it is in teaching that believers are `immersed` (baptised) into Him.

He is saying make disciples of the believers and that He will never forsake us.
But He did forsake us.     He ascended to Heaven.
However, He sent us His Holy Spirit who is His essence and power.

`All things` means that what Jesus told the original disciples was not just for them but for all men for all time.

For Christianity to get out of the rut believers must be introduced to the highway where they were designed to run and to achieve, to prosper and to give.

Ministers must stop
    dwelling on the past,
    focusing on failures,
    disqualifying believers and
    undermining faith
and begin to do what Jesus did - challenge His disciples to step up their game
    by thinking like He thought,
by believing what He believed and
    by doing what He did.

It is the Truth that we KNOW (receive) that sets us free and empowers us.
