The opposite of Truth is lie.
The opposite of Free is Bound.
Jesus did not come from heaven to provide something which is optional for human life.
Truth is necessary to be free from lies and deception and the bondage they carry.
Freedom is the foundation for life. Without it we are in bondage. When we are in bondage there are things that we cannot do and there are things which we must do.
Satan is the one who binds us.
Jesus is the one who sets us free.
Everyone of us was in bondage from birth. Because of our Sin Nature we became more bound the older we got.
It is only through the New Birth that we are given the Free Spirit Of Christ by which we live above guilt and condemnation and have power over the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye and the pride of life.
Those who never come to Christ are never free and so their various fetters tear at their minds causing them to compensate

These are aspects of Mental Illness which sets the mentally ill person up as an easy target for Demon Possession.
TSD is simply a clinical term for what leads to Mental Illness, which, left unchecked by Truth, leads to Demon Possession.
